Atelier Body Abstract Space

Ce premier atelier introduit les étudiant·e·x·s à tous les concepts impliqués dans la création d’un projet de design : de l’analyse d’une inspiration à la communication claire d’un concept. En travaillant autour du corps à partir de formes géométriques simples, les étudiant·e·x·s se sont formé ·e·x·s à la création de vêtements, en intégrant les outils indispensables à leur parcours de designers : création de moodboard, tenue d’un book de recherche, expérimentations textiles, communication de projets à travers des textes, des images et une scénographie.

Workshop Body Abstract Space

This first workshop introduced students to all the concepts involved in creating a design project: from analyzing inspiration to clearly communicating a concept. Working around the body using simple geometric shapes, students learn how to create garments, integrating the tools essential to their career as designers: creating moodboards, keeping a research portfolio, experimenting with textiles, communicating projects through texts, images and scenography.

Habit(at)

L’objectif de l’atelier est d’explorer, pour soi et collectivement, le corps et les normes à travers la création de vêtements. Les défis à relever sont les suivants : créer une figure (forme générale, proportions et attributs) sur laquelle concevoir ses modèles ; apprendre à développer un concept en jouant avec les multiples caractéristiques formelles, techniques et symboliques du vêtement : ses lignes et ses volumes, son extérieur et son intérieur, ses codes, ses fonctionnalités et ses embellissements. Enfin, les étudiant·e·x·s explorent et déterminent une méthodologie de design qui leur permet d’expérimenter et de développer un langage personnel.

Body: Volume and Norms

The aim of the workshop is to explore, for oneself and collectively, body and norms through garment design. The challenges involved: creating a figure (general form, proportions and attributes) to fit designs; learning to develop a concept by playing with the multiple formal, technical and symbolic characteristics of the garment or costume: its lines and volumes, exterior and interior, codes, functionalities and embellishment. Finally, students explore and determine a design methodology that enables them to experiment and develop a personal language.

Atelier Up-Styling en collaboration avec CSP Genève.

L’atelier aborde la notion d’appropriation culturelle et la technique de l’up-cycling à travers la pratique du stylisme. Il initie les étudiants à l’utilisation de pièces existantes dans la création et les encourage à réfléchir à l’utilisation de références. En assemblant des vêtements réutilisés, les étudiants créent de nouvelles silhouettes puis, en s’inspirant de leurs images de stylisme, ils créent des dessins et des collages, dont ils extraient un look à réaliser en trois dimensions, y compris une création textile.

Upstyling, Raúl Egloff in partnership with Caritas

The workshop addresses the notion of cultural appropriation and the technique of up-cycling through the practice of fashion design. It introduces students to the use of existing pieces in design, and encourages them to reflect on the use of references. By assembling reused garments, students create new silhouettes and then, drawing on their styling images, create drawings and collages, from which they extract a look to be realized in three dimensions, including a textile creation.

Atelier Zero Waste, Natalia Solomatine avec Michel Garcia et les tisserandes de l’Association De Fil en Fil

Pour ce dernier atelier de première année, le focus est placé sur l’artisanat et le développement d’outils et connaissances éthiques et durables. Un premier workshop de teinture naturelle, avec le spécialiste Michel Garcia, introduit les étudiant·e·x·s au savoir-faire spécifique des teintures naturelles et écologiques. Les étudiant·e·x·s ont expérimenté pendant une semaine les principes des teintures naturelles, appliquées ensuite à la création de leurs textiles.

Zero Waste Workshop, Natalia Solomatine with Michel Garcia et the weavers of Association De Fil en Fil

For the last workshop of the first year, the focus is on craftsmanship and the development of ethical and sustainable tools and knowledge .A first natural dyeing workshop, with specialist Michel Garcia, introduced students to the specific know-how of natural dyes. For a week, students experimented with its principles , which they then applied to the creation of their own textiles.

Workshop teinture naturelle avec Michel Garcia

Un second workshop de tissage, avec les tisserandes de l’association De fil en fil, a initié les étudiant·e·x·s aux techniques de tissage, valorisant ainsi des techniques anciennes de création textile et les familiarisant avec la construction des volumes autour du corps.

A weaving workshop, with weavers from the De fil en fil association, introduced the students to weaving techniques, highlighting ancient textile design techniques and familiarising them with the construction of volumes around the body.

Le résultat : des tenues “zero waste” obtenues grâce au tissage, avec des matières teintes de manière naturelle.
