Journey to the East
Cette collection est mon interprétation et mon expérience de la Chine d’aujourd’hui. C’est une façon pour moi de creuser cette partie de mon identité et de comprendre un pays qui est souvent incompris par beaucoup. Le titre du recueil fait référence au célèbre dessin animé et roman chinois “Journey to the West 西遊記”, qui raconte le pèlerinage d’un moine bouddhiste dans les régions occidentales, à la recherche de textes bouddhistes sacrés. Il peut être vu comme une allégorie de la quête de la connaissance et de la clarté : c’est une quête sans fin qui demande des efforts et du courage. Tout comme un pèlerinage, la compréhension d’une culture aussi vaste comprend la confusion et la peur, mais le voyage vaut la beauté, l’épanouissement, la joie et la paix que vous trouverez en chemin.
This collection is my interpretation and my experience of today’s China. It is a way for me to dig into that part of my identity and to understand a country that is often misunderstood by many. The title of the collection refers to the famous Chinese cartoon and novel «Journey to the West 西遊記», that tells the pilgrimage of a Buddhist monk to the Western regions, who is looking for sacred buddhist texts. It can be seen as an allegory for the quest of knowledge and clarity : it is a never ending quest that demands e!orts and courage. Just like a pilgrimage, understanding such a vast culture includes confusion and fear, but the journey is worth the beauty, bloom, joy and peace you will find along the way.
